Odisha CM Pays Humble Tribute to Mother Teresa on Birth Anniversary

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid humble tribute to Bharat Ratna Mother Teresa on her birth anniversary.

Her compassionate service to the poorest of poor and unfailing commitment towards humanity continues to inspire us to this day, Naveen tweeted.

Founder of Missionaries of Charity, Mother Teresa was born on August 26, 1910. She left her home when she was mere 18 and devoted most part of life working for poor and downtrodden. The missionary founded by her looks after people who are dying of HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis.

Mother Teresa also known as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, but her original name was Anjeze Gonxhe Bojaxhiu. The word “Anjeze” means “a little flower” in Albanian.

Mother Teresa received more than 120 honours and awards during her lifetime including the Ramon Magsaysay Peace Prize in 1962 and Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
She reeived the India’s highest civilian award  Bharat Ratna in 1980.
