CISF officer who stopped Salman Khan at airport ‘neither penalised nor rewarded’: Reports

The CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) has said that the officer who was caught on camera stopping actor Salman Khan at the Mumbai airport to ensure that he gets a security clearance, was neither penalised nor rewarded. Earlier, reports had suggested he was penalised for speaking to media, following which the CISF tweeted that the officer was ‘suitably rewarded for exemplary professionalism’.

DIG Anil Pandey, Chief Public Relations Officer, CISF, told ETimes: “Someone shot a video of Salman Khan at the airport and a rumour was spread that the CISF personnel who stopped him was taken to task, hence we had to clarify on Twitter. It was ASI Somnath Mohanty who was on duty, and as per security protocol at the airport, he stopped Salman Khan and asked him to get security clearance. Every passenger has to go through the same procedure.”

He added that the ASI was not rewarded for stopping Salman Khan, but he was rewarded in internal assessment as the best performer.

In a video that gone viral recently, the actor was seen reaching the airport, accompanied by a few people. Khan, who was reportedly heading to Russia for the filming of the third installment in the Tiger franchise, managed to evade fans and photographers crowding around him to reach the entrance of the airport, only to be stopped by the CISF personnel for the completion of his security clearance.

Netizens were impressed with the way in which the actor was stopped at the airport and was subjected to the required security check.

The first film in the Tiger franchise was Ek Tha Tiger, directed by Kabir Khan. Ali Abbas Zafar helmed the second part Tiger Zinda Hai. The third film is being directed by Maneesh Sharma. Photos of Salman from the sets of the film in Russia were trending on social media recently.
