‘Protesters can’t be silenced through murder’: Varun Gandhi

BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Thursday again demanded action over the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3, that claimed nine lives.

Varun Gandhi had been tweeting about the violence, triggered by the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra allegedly mowing down protesting farmers.

On Tuesday, Varun had shared a video clip showing the farmers being struck down by a vehicle. He tagged the director general of Uttar Pradesh Police, noting, “This video of deliberately crushing farmers with vehicles in Lakhimpur Kheri will shake anyone’s soul. Police should take cognizance of this video and immediately arrest the owners of these vehicles, the people sitting in them, and other persons involved in this case.”

On Thursday, Varun shared a clearer, longer version of the same video that showed multiple vehicles passing through. Varun tweeted, “The video is crystal clear. Protestors cannot be silenced through murder. There has to be accountability for the innocent blood of farmers that has been spilled and justice must be delivered before a message of arrogance and cruelty enters the minds of every farmer.”

The newer video has cast doubts on the claims by Ajay Mishra and his son Ashish that their SUV was under attack by farmers. The video showed no evidence of stones or sticks being thrown at the vehicle, as was claimed by the minister and his son.
